The Converse University Department of Natural Sciences invites applicants for an Instructor of Physics three-year renewable position. The successful individual will teach algebra-based physics courses for the chemistry and biology programs and other courses that fulfill departmental and institutional needs. Depending on the candidate's expertise and university needs, these may include other physics classes for non-science majors, astronomy, computer science, and mathematics. Minimum qualifications include a M.S. in physics. Salary: Commensurate with experience.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities: - Teach and prepare lecture and laboratory sections of assigned courses, including preparation of laboratory materials and classroom activities.
- Maintenance of instructional and laboratory equipment.
- A typical course load is two lecture/lab courses in Fall and Spring and a specialty course during the January interim.
- Provide students with timely evaluation of their performance in classes.
- Maintain current understanding of appropriate fields of science, technology, and pedagogy and incorporate them into teaching, as appropriate.
- Attend appropriate departmental and institutional meetings and serve the department and institution as needed.
- Follow the proper procedures for requisitioning textbooks, instructional supplies, expendable supplies, and travel requisitions and reports.
- Follow the approved academic calendar and exam schedules.
- Participate in all required faculty activities, as outlined in the faculty handbook.
- Other duties may be assigned by immediate supervisor.
Qualifications - M.S. in physics
- Experience in teaching and developing physics courses for students majoring in chemistry, biochemistry, and biology and for students in pre-healthcare fields. The physics sequence is offered annually.
- Ability to teach additional coursework that complements current departmental expertise and fulfills both departmental and institutional needs.
