Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Pediatrics Discipline: RN Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, flexible Employment Type: Travel Position: PACU RN – 70% Adults 30% Peds Ratios: 1:2 Days/Nights/Weekends Pt Age Group: Neonates-Geriatrics Local Rate: $85 Min Years of Exp: 1 year PICU OR ICU and 1 year of phase 1 experience in a mixed peds/adult PACU at a level 1 trauma hospital. Could also be RN with a mix of PEDs and Adult PACU experience but they must have both in work history. Required Certs: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC or ATCN or TACR etc (advanced trauma cert) Required Skills: Trauma level 1, Pediatrics & Adult care, Central line care/management, IV vasopressors, Care of Ventilated patients, Chest tube management, Malignant Hyperthermia Protocols Any Other Special Requirements/Details: ***See below hypothetical cases to determine if your RN is eligible*** Does your RN feel comfortable w/ the below cases?- Working at night on call, 1 RN has peds (4 yo) ICU patient waiting for a bed (could be on vent) while other RN is receiving an adult ICU patient from OR that will be waiting for a bed. Are you comfortable taking care of the pediatric patient in this scenario?- RN taking care of a 3 month old patient from OR phase 1 from pyloric stenosis procedure- outpatient scenario. - 5 year old patient with tonsil rebleed- phase 1 recovery - Pediatric (9yo) scald burn injury 30%+ TBSA- grafting- phase 1 recovery from OR - Pediatric (8 yo) broken arm with nerve repair, ending phase 1, parent at bedside; now same RN getting T& A 4 yo. *Valleywise is the only burn center in Phoenix – they see very acutely ill pediatric and adult cases and they are looking for skilled pediatric and adult critical care nurse Traveler must understand that since this facility has a Peds ICU and Peds Burn unit, they must be prepared to care for peds patients on a as needed basis. Amount of peds can fluctuate on a weekly basis. First-Timer OK: No – would possibly consider if candidate meets all requirements and has very strong experience Local OK: Yes Preferred Experience: Teaching Hospital Experience Weekend REQ: varied – discussed during interview On-Call REQ: 4-6 call shifts per 6-week schedule.
