POSITION SUMMARY - Teach students in one math at the middle school level.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
  1. Effectively Instruct students in the state and district standards applicable for the position
  2. Plan and set sequential outcomes with rigor and high expectations.
  3. Plan and implement appropriate learning activities suitable to meet all students' needs.
  4. Demonstrate care and respect when interacting with students.
  5. Manage classroom procedures with limited loss of instructional time.
  6. Ensure students are actively engaged in learning.
  7. Provide timely, consistent, high-quality feedback to students.
  8. Develop and administer assessments of rigor that match standards of learning.
  9. Reflect on practice and make adjustments for professional growth.
  10. Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
  11. Enforce all administration policies and rules governing students.
  12. Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
  13. Guide and counsel students with adjustment or academic problems, or special academic interests.
  14. Confer with parents or guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems.
  15. Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress and to determine priorities for their children and their resource needs.
  16. Instruct and monitor students in the use of equipment and materials to prevent injuries and damage.
  17. Meet with other professionals to discuss individual students' needs and progress.
  18. Confer with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons that promote learning, following approved curricula.
  19. Prepare reports on students and activities as required by administration.
  20. Collaborate with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of secondary school programs.
  21. Sponsor extracurricular activities such as clubs, student organizations, and academic contests.
  22. Attend staff meetings and serve on committees, as required.
  23. Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and professional development sessions to maintain and improve professional competence.
  24. Administer standardized ability and achievement tests and interpret results to determine students' strengths and areas of need.
  25. Select, store, order, issue, and inventory classroom equipment, materials, and supplies.
  26. Perform administrative duties such as assisting in school libraries, hall and cafeteria monitoring, and bus loading and unloading.
  27. Select and use appropriate resources.
  28. Exhibit knowledge of content and content-related pedagogy.
  29. Exhibit knowledge of adolescent development.
  30. Exhibit knowledge of individual students' knowledge, skills, and special needs.
  31. Adhere to student Individualized Education Program (IEP) and 504 plans.
  32. Plan assignments for teacher assistance, volunteers, and substitutes.
  33. Respond appropriately to student behavior.
  34. Maintain professionalism with staff members.
  35. Report to the proper authorities any cases of suspected child endangerment, neglect, or abuse.
  36. Adhere to all policies of the District.
  37. Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or other administrators.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree (four year college or technical school) Required; Field of Study: Correlated to teaching assignment. Master's Degree Preferred, Field of Study: Correlated to teaching assignment. If teaching an Advanced Placement class, the teacher must meet academic qualifications set by the College Board.
  • Experience: No prior experience necessary
  • Computer Skills: Shall be able to demonstrate an acceptable level of proficiency with computers and programs associated with the position.
Certifications & Licenses:
  • Must have a current Arkansas teaching license for the grade level or subject area assigned to.
  • Must be able to document highly-qualified status under federal law (when required).
  • Other Requirements:
    • Successful completion of pre-employment background checks.
    • Appropriate personal and professional conduct at all times around students, other staff members, and the general public.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Most job responsibilities for this position are performed in an indoor school environment that is temperature controlled (heated and cooled) according to the season. Noise levels are mostly low to moderate.
