Reporting to the Supervisor of the Pediatric Service Line or designee, the Pediatric Physical Therapist is responsible for all patient care assessments, treatments and related duties, providing comprehensive care appropriate to the age of the patients served in accordance with the philosophy and objectives of the department. The Pediatric Physical Therapist demonstrates clinical expertise in the area of pediatric disorders through clinical experience, special certifications and continuing education. The clinical practice position requires an understanding of pediatric physical therapy clinical care, research principles, and treatment techniques. The Physical Therapist's responsibilities include assessment, planning, treatment, and ongoing evaluation of the provision of care for a diverse pediatric patient population. The Physical Therapist provides patient and family education and support. The scope of pediatric physical therapy services for patients and families includes all phases of care including prevention, assessment, rehabilitation, and education/caregiver training. The Physical Therapist works effectively on a multidisciplinary team.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited Physical Therapy program required.
Experience
- 3-4 years’ experience in outpatient or school-based pediatrics required.
Licensure and/or Certification
- BLS required within 4 months from hire.
- Current license to practice physical therapy in Massachusetts required.
