Job Description

Our Fortune 100 client urgently requires a System Admin/HelpDesk in Herndon, VA. If you are interested, please send your updated resume along with your expected salary.

Directly responsible for the successful support and operations of our customers' Microsoft and Linux-based solutions built on the AWS cloud. Communication with customers, vendors, and co-workers in a clear and professional manner is an absolute must. Candidates must be willing to jump in and learn new tools and technologies in support of a very diverse set of customers. Use system analysis techniques and procedures, including consulting with users, to determine hardware, software, or system functional specifications.

Key Attributes:

  1. Takes and handles calls from customers for entry into the ticketing system.
  2. Analyzes and resolves problems associated with the operating system’s servers, hardware, applications, and software.
  3. Possesses familiarity with varied concepts, standard best business practices, and procedures.
  4. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  5. Performs a variety of tasks with minimal guidance and supervision.

Duties include:

  1. System administration tasks in support of operations.
  2. Installing software and software upgrades.
  3. Scheduling and performing software installations and upgrades, and maintaining them in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  4. Performing system testing, operations, administration, and maintenance.
  5. Identifying system performance risks and problems, and developing and presenting solutions.

Required Experience:

  1. 2-4 years’ experience as a Systems Operator or Engineer.
  2. Experience managing full application stacks from OS up through custom applications.
  3. Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining operating systems.
  4. AS degree or equivalent experience.
  5. Call center, service desk, or Helpdesk experience is required.
