Senior Backend Software Engineer (Python (Golang a plus))

Hybrid: 2 days in office/week in Sunnyvale, CA

In this role, you will focus on the Azure Firewall Management Program over the next year. You will work in conjunction with Illumio's Core product and our newest product, CloudSecure, to deliver on customer-facing products and initiatives.

As a Senior Software Engineer, every day you will determine how we integrate firewall management security frameworks into our existing ecosystem using Go / Golang. You will be working in cloud environments, like AWS, and you will focus on the networking aspects of our tech stack.

To thrive in this role, you will need Go / Golang coding experience, and cloud experience in Azure or AWS is ideal. You will need networking experience, especially security networking, and building and deploying APIs.

Your Impact:

You will design your service, develop features after solidifying the design with peer review process with take it to production quality.

You will primarily write code in Java, Python.

Working knowledge of Kubernetes orchestration or willing to learn.

Own critical features and subsystems and own the entire software development lifecycle, from clarifying requirements to ensuring their successful deployment and usage by customers.

Owning service/feature operational aspects with necessary telemetry and metrics for identifying production issues quickly.

Own code quality, as we do early developer testing and functional/integration testing to ensure we build robust and resilient products.

Willing to partner with Product management for requirements clarification, scoping and locking.

Your Toolkit:

Bachelor’s in computer science or equivalent degree. Master’s degree is preferred.

3+ years building distributed & scalable software and systems.

Passion for software development, willing to constantly learn, keeping up with technological trends, and working in a team setting.

Extensively used one of these platforms at the API/programming level.

Experience with networking and security controls is a plus.

Language requirements include experience in one or more programming languages: Java, Python.

CloudFormation, Terraform are nice to have.

Working knowledge of Spring or similar ecosystems.

Knowledge of Kubernetes and Docker containers is good to have.

Gang of Four design patterns.

Compensation:

$135,000 - $155,000 USD.
