Northrop Grumman Space Systems Sector, Tactical Space Systems Division (TSSD), Phoenix program is seeking a qualified Principal or Senior Principal Systems Engineer for the role of Mission Systems Thread Lead for a Mission Integration program. This position is located in Dulles, VA. Successful candidates for this position will work in a technical thread lead role on Phoenix for the Space Security business area.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and review requirements, verification plans, and architecture at all levels of the System.
  2. Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  3. Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into lower-level specifications.
  4. Integrate complex design elements across multiple teams and vendors of the Phoenix program.
  5. Coordinate with all levels of the program to ensure a comprehensive system design.
  6. Ensure ground system software teams are developing and designing their content that meets the system requirements.
  7. Provide subject matter expertise for the Thread to the program.
  8. Brief program leadership, customers, and stakeholders on the Thread.
  9. Engage in formal and informal mentoring to support knowledge transfer and talent development.

Basic Qualifications:

  1. Principal Engineer Level (T3): B.S. in STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering, Math or related area and 5 years of experience; M.S. in STEM or related area and 3 years of experience.
  2. Senior Principal Engineer Level (T4): B.S. in STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering, Math or related area and 8 years of experience; M.S. in STEM or related area and 6 years of experience.
  3. Must have US Citizenship with current or active Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain SCI clearance at time of application.
  4. Experience in requirements management, system architecture development, and CONOPs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Active or current TS/SCI U.S. Government Security Clearance.
  2. Experience coordinating the efforts of diverse stakeholders.
  3. Proficiency in any modeling and simulation tools: Cameo, STK, Matlab, AFSIM, Python.

Salary Range: $110,300 - $165,500

Salary Range 2: $137,400 - $206,000

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.
