Meet the team:
The R&D Mechanical Engineering Team is responsible for the feasibility and development of next-generation products at Dexcom. We are building a world class global R&D capability to support our ambitious health sensing strategy and drive long term growth of the company. An important part of this transformation is the core hardware development organization that oversees all aspects of system related designs and architectures.
We are seeking a strong product development technical leader with broad cross-functional & proven track record of product launches (within product development process). This leader will drive continued evolution and optimization of R&D Mechanical Engineering to be best in class, not only leading Design, Analysis and Packaging engineering within R&D function but has a keen insight to help enable product development with complex technologies and high volume within tight deadlines. This leader will build technical and strategic partnerships (with senior leaders & functions) across Dexcom and lead an organization of talented Mechanical and Packaging Design Engineers. This is a strategic and business critical role and will represent a unique opportunity to work with world class team and has high visibility to senior and executive leadership. The Sr. Manager is a hands-on individual who has strong problem-solving skills and as necessary will dive into engineering design, CAD modeling, conceptual prototyping, through product development and implementation while also keeping a pulse on the strategic growth of the organization.

Lead and inspire a team of talented mechanical engineers to innovate, create and achieve their full potential in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Utilize creative problem-solving skills to lead ideation of new product. Review and lead team through detailed mechanical analysis to ensure proper function through FEA, tolerance analysis, testing and other exploratory means.
Oversee the design, development and implementation of cutting-edge mechanical products, systems and components.
Experience in Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Lean Manufacturing, Design of Experiments (DOE), technology transfer process, failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) and problem-solving techniques.
Ensure projects are executed with precision to meet the highest quality standards.
Shape and execute the mechanical engineering design development strategy that drives company mission and vision.
Develop connections and relationships with other departments, from marketing to operations to create cohesive business strategy. Build and maintain relationships with external partners and vendors.
What makes you successful:
You have an advanced degree in mechanical engineering along with experience and skills in leading and building high performing Mechanical Engineering design teams.
You have a deep technical knowledge base across engineering systems including mechanical and electromechanical design. You have experience with math-based model development of mechanical engineering products.
You have experience in leadership and communication responsibilities across the company to provide status updates, communicate challenges & successes and escalate issues and resolutions.
You are highly proficient in 3D CAD modeling, including surface modeling and master modeling. Knowledge of working in PDM/PLM systems.
You have a track record of successful product development and launch cycles in a regulated industry.
You have extensive experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and managing development and manufacturing partners.
You have strong DFM/DFA skills with emphasis on part/assembly tolerance to deliver robust designs for high volume manufacturing.
You have knowledge of design of plastic injection molded part designs, electromechanical integration, adhesive bonded joints, metal stamped parts designs and paper packaging products.
You have proven ability to creatively resolve conflicting design constraints through analysis and testing.
Proven success with product launches in a fast-paced, high technology environment with tight deadlines.

Flex Workplace: Your primary location will be a home office. You will not have an assigned workstation and will work with your manager to determine office visit needs. You must live within commuting distance of your assigned Dexcom site (typically 75 miles/120km).
