CACI is looking for an experienced Computer Systems Engineer with expertise in Linux and Windows computing infrastructure design and maintenance, cybersecurity, and networks to work with our Computer Systems Engineering team supporting NASA's human-rated spacecraft systems in support of our Nation’s space exploration initiative at NASA / Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston, TX. Candidates should have a strong background in Linux, networking, computer system design, familiarity with Windows and cybersecurity, and, most of all, possess a great passion to contribute to our Nation’s exploration of space.

The candidate will be part of a team that provides a range of computer systems support to NASA at the Johnson Space Center including user support, security management, network design and operation, account management and provisioning, operation of IT infrastructure services, computing equipment setup, and subject matter expertise for NASA projects.

This position requires a self-motivated, capable person with strong verbal and written communication skills. In addition to outstanding technical expertise, the individual must be very people savvy, possess strong customer relationship skills, have a positive team-player attitude, and be flexible and willing to take on new assignments and responsibilities as they arise. Finally, the most qualified candidate will be an articulate speaker able to communicate complex technical ideas in a convincing manner, must share our passion for our Nation's Space Program, and share in the excitement of developing the next human-rated space vehicles.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the full lifecycle of end-user and server computer systems including procurement, operating system installation, security configuration, application installation, and inventory tracking.
  • Respond to customer requests for changes, fixes, and other user support. Install and maintain development and collaboration tools for hardware and software engineering teams.
  • Generate documentation and advise customers on best practices for using available tools.
  • Design and operate computer networks including hardware testbeds, development laboratories, and organizational data centers.
  • Work with robotic, space vehicle, and simulation development teams to configure computer systems that meet NASA security standards and project requirements.
  • Generate, review, and update cyber security documents such as security plans, interconnection agreements, disaster recovery plans, risk assessments, continuous monitoring reports, waivers, and incident reports.
  • This work takes place at NASA/JSC in Houston, TX, a highly stimulating and dynamic environment that is critical in human space flight and the space exploration initiative.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related disciplines required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a customer-oriented, fast-paced environment supporting Computer Systems Engineering activities.
  • Greater experience is valued. Strong background in system administration in a Linux environment including ongoing maintenance (user support, account management, troubleshooting, etc.), design and setup of new networks, computing environments, and storage solutions.
  • Must have strong knowledge of foundational network technologies such as Ethernet, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and client/server communication.
  • Must be flexible, open to new challenges in a dynamic environment, and possess strong technical expertise combined with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to manage multiple priorities with little supervision.
  • Must be a highly responsible, team-oriented individual with strong work ethic. Must possess strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • This is a Moderate Risk, Non-Sensitive Public Trust Position.
  • Candidate must be able to pass an OPM Tier II background evaluation.

Desired:

  • Master of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Cyber Security, or Graduate level coursework or research involving information systems or cyber security.
  • Experience with NASA, DoD, or other federal government security compliance. Familiarity with FISMA and NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
  • Experience with IT security plan development, documentation, and assessment.
  • IT certifications from organizations such as ITIL, Cisco, Red Hat, VMware, ISC2, or SANS.
  • Network design and administration experience including routing, switching, wireless, and network access control.
  • Software development and scripting skills with Bash, PowerShell, Python, or other languages.
  • Familiarity with Git version control.
  • Experience writing technical documentation and maintaining a knowledge base.
  • Experience with any of the following Linux distributions is a strong plus: Ubuntu, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Oracle Linux.
  • Experience working closely with software development teams and administration of software development tools such as GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins, Jira, and Docker.
  • Experience in any of the following is a plus: Service Now, Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Group Policy, Puppet, Ansible, PowerShell, Tenable SecurityCenter, HCL BigFix, Splunk, GitLab Continuous Integration, Jenkins, Apache web server, Nginx, Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL.
  • Experience in the NASA/JSC environment or other highly technical environment is a plus.

The proposed salary range for this position is:

$63,300 - 129,700 USD
