Senior Network Engineer

Location: Houston, TX – 1-2 days per week onsite

Position Summary

The Senior Network Engineer is primarily responsible for the deployment and support of advanced local, regional, and global network architectures.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead deployment, troubleshooting, and maintenance of High-Performance Computing network infrastructure
2. Provide network capacity planning recommendations in line with anticipated operational growth
3. Act as escalation point for complex technical issues
4. Ensure smooth production operations by careful planning and coordinated changes
5. Provide excellent customer service to various internal and external clients
6. Coach and mentor junior engineering staff to empower growth and team cohesion
7. Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams to deliver support and recommendations regarding network technologies
8. Provide detailed and accurate documentation on network designs and standards
9. Lead local, regional, and global networking projects
10. Participate in the regional on-call support rotation
11. Travel domestically or internationally as required on a limited basis

Requirements:

1. 10+ years of overall experience installing and supporting High Performance Computing systems and architectures for global companies
2. Deep understanding and experience with data center network architectures (spine and leaf) and protocols (VXLAN, EVPN, BGP, MLAG)
3. Knowledge of modern data center fiber optic cabling and connector standards
4. Experience with monitoring and alerting systems
5. Familiarity with network automation frameworks and programming languages (Ansible, Python, etc.)

Nice to have:

1. Experience supporting hardware and software in a multi-vendor environment
2. Experience with OpenStack cloud computing infrastructure
3. Knowledge of Linux operating systems, virtualization, and containerization technologies
4. Experience supporting Software Defined Networks (SD-WAN)
5. Deployment knowledge or experience managing security products (Firewall, IPS/IDS)
6. CCNP or equivalent networking experience
