Systems Engineer Mid-Level

We are seeking a qualified Systems Engineer Mid-Level to support a potential contract award with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Human Capital Services Center (HCSC) Information Technology (IT) Support Services. This role is contingent upon contract award and will play a critical part in our efforts to deliver exceptional results for this opportunity.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Mid-Level Systems Engineer supports the design, development, security, and implementation of IT and cloud solutions, ensuring compliance with federal cybersecurity policies and standards. This role requires experience in cybersecurity engineering, cloud security, and federal authorization processes, with a focus on integrating security requirements into systems and applications. The Systems Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to enhance system performance, security posture, and compliance efforts.
- Integrate cybersecurity engineering requirements and authorizations (FedRAMP/RMF) into IT systems and applications.
- Design, develop, and implement IT and cloud security solutions for large-scale environments in federal and commercial sectors.
- Support Federal Assessment & Authorization (A&A) and Authority to Operate (ATO) activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Ensure adherence to federal policies, processes, and standards related to cybersecurity and cloud security.
- Conduct risk assessments and security control implementations to mitigate vulnerabilities and enhance system security.
- Assist in cloud security architecture design and provide recommendations for improving system resilience.
- Support system engineering efforts for cloud migrations, infrastructure modernization, and security enhancements.
- Provide technical expertise to stakeholders regarding security engineering best practices and compliance requirements.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Assurance, Information Security, Information Resource Management, or a related field.
- Experience: 5 years of systems engineering experience, including at least 3 years of cybersecurity and cloud security experience within a government agency similar in size and scope to the Department of Defense (DoD) or Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
- Certifications (One or more required):
- Information Assurance Technician (IAT) II
- Information Assurance Management (IAM) II
- Information Assurance System Architects and Engineers (IASAE) II
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with large-scale cloud solutions and security frameworks in federal environments.
- Knowledge of cloud service models, architectures, and security best practices.
- Strong understanding of risk management processes, security controls, and compliance frameworks.
- Experience in system engineering for cloud migrations and modernization initiatives.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
SALARY:
Salary is commensurate with both location and experience.
