About the Role

As a Director of Engineering , you will be responsible for leading, mentoring, and scaling a small but high-performing engineering team. You will ensure technical excellence, efficient execution, and alignment with the company’s strategic objectives. This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage projects, optimize workflows, and maintain a high bar for quality and performance in a fast-paced DeFi environment.

Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Management

• Direct, coordinate, and mentor a team of 6-8 engineers throughout the product lifecycle, from development to deployment.
• Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure effective task delegation based on team priorities, individual strengths, and overall product strategy.
• Identify areas for skill development and provide coaching or training where necessary.

Project & Product Execution

• Own and drive engineering execution, ensuring the timely and quality completion of all deliverables.
• Continuously assess and implement process improvements to maintain a lean, productive, and scalable team.
• Work closely with the executive leadership, product, and sales teams for periodic milestone reviews.
• Ensure that engineering decisions align with business goals, customer needs, and market trends.

Technical Excellence & Quality Assurance

• Implement robust QA/QC procedures to ensure security, reliability, and performance of DeFi applications.
• Track development progress, ensure code quality and proactively adjust workflows to meet budget and timeline expectations.
• Drive technical strategy, architecture, and best practices for secure and scalable DeFi solutions.
• Stay updated with the latest DeFi trends, blockchain technologies, and security best practices.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience

• 10+ years of engineering experience in software development, including at least 5 years in a leadership role (Engineering Manager / Lead Engineer).
• Strong DeFi/blockchain experience (Ethereum, Layer 2s, smart contracts, decentralized applications, Solidity, etc.).
• Proven track record in managing engineering teams, technical project execution, and scaling software development teams.
• Expertise in software development processes, DevOps, and agile methodologies.
• Strong understanding of smart contract security, audits, and best practices.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, startup environment with shifting priorities.
• Excellent communication, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
