The Business Solutions Architect supports APCO’s continued growth strategy designing scalable, efficient, and effective BI solutions that meet the analytical needs of the organization. You will collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements, create data models, and ensure that BI solutions align with business goals, including managing and maintaining our Power BI environment, ensuring data integrity, performance, and security.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and architecture of end-to-end Power BI solutions, including data models, reports, dashboards, and integration with other systems.
  • Manage Power BI user access, security settings, and workspace configurations.
  • Oversee the integration of Power BI with various data sources (e.g., SQL Server, Azure, Excel, ERP systems, APIs).
  • Establish processes and tools used to collect and measure relevant data, identify key performance indicators (KPI), and produce a data-driven analysis of critical functions.
  • Continuously monitor and optimize Power BI solutions for performance, usability, and scalability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to data accuracy, reporting, or performance.
  • Provide technical support and training for end-users to maximize Power BI utilization.
  • Work closely with business users, senior leadership, and technical teams to understand business needs and translate them into actionable Power BI solutions.
  • Act as a key liaison between business units and IT teams to ensure data visualizations and reporting tools are aligned with business objectives.
  • Analyze organizational business intelligence needs and pain points and define BI roadmap opportunities.
  • Define and establish enterprise BI standards in alignment with the overall enterprise data management framework.
  • Identify process improvement and automation opportunities, prioritize, and implement solutions utilizing continuous improvement principles and LEAN/Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Effectively communicate and interact with business and technical personnel in solving complex data related business problems in collaboration with other members of the team.
  • Remain current with industry best practices and tools.
  • Assist with data quality and integrity initiatives.
  • Provide technical training to business stakeholders on analytics best practices and application of technical tools (e.g. Excel, SQL, Power Query, Power BI, Power Automate, etc.).
  • Assist with other special projects as needed.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, Data Science, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience in BI architecture, business analysis, or IT consulting with a focus on Power BI.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing Power BI solutions, including report creation, dashboard development, and data modeling.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Power BI, including data modeling, DAX, Power Query, and dashboard/report design.
  • Experience with data integration, including knowledge of SQL, Azure Data Services, and connecting Power BI to various data sources.
  • In-depth understanding of data visualization best practices and the ability to translate business needs into actionable BI solutions.
  • LEAN, Six Sigma, or related process improvement certification preferred.
  • Experience with agile methodologies, change management principles and organization design.
  • F&I industry experience a plus.
