Azure Engineer - AVD Specialist - Hybrid - Information Technology

The Azure Engineer - AVD Specialist is responsible for designing, deploying, managing, and optimizing Azure cloud environments, with a strong focus on virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solutions. This role requires deep knowledge of Microsoft Azure, Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD/AVD), networking, security, and automation.

Responsibilities

What you will do:

Under direct supervision of Information Technology leadership, the Azure Engineer - AVD Specialist will be responsible for:

• Design & Deployment: Architect, configure, and deploy Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) solutions for enterprise environments.
• Cloud Administration: Manage and optimize Azure resources, ensuring high availability, performance, and cost efficiency.
• Security & Compliance: Implement security best practices, including conditional access, RBAC, MFA, and encryption for AVD environments.
• Networking & Connectivity: Configure Azure VNet, VPN, ExpressRoute, and hybrid connectivity to ensure seamless access to virtual desktops.
• Automation & Scripting: Develop automation scripts using PowerShell, ARM templates, or Terraform to streamline deployments and management tasks.
• Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Use Azure Monitor and Log Analytics to identify and resolve performance or security issues.
• End-User Support: Work closely with IT teams and end-users to troubleshoot and optimize virtual desktop experiences.
• Integration & Optimization: Integrate AVD with Microsoft 365, FSLogix, OneDrive, Intune, and Defender for Endpoint.

Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Experience:

• 3+ years of experience working with Microsoft Azure in an enterprise environment.
• Hands-on experience deploying and managing Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD).
• Strong knowledge of Azure networking, security, identity management, and storage solutions.
• Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (ARM, Terraform, or Bicep).
• Experience integrating FSLogix, Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune), and Windows 10/11 Multi-Session.
• Familiarity with Active Directory (on-prem & Azure AD), Group Policy, and Conditional Access policies.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Defender.

Certification:

• Microsoft Azure certifications (AZ-104, AZ-140, AZ-305) are highly desirable.
• Experience with Windows 365 Cloud PC.
• Knowledge of automation tools like Ansible, SCCM, or Autopilot.
• Understanding of Zero Trust Security principles.

The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $79K-$118K, with the actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
