FINANCE DIRECTOR

The Hoffman Institute Foundation is a non-profit whose purpose is to support, develop, and encourage personal growth and human potential, primarily through residential retreats held at the Hoffman Retreat Center in Marin County, CA, and other USA and Canada locations. The CEO and CFO are searching for a Finance Director to join our productive and harmonious 4-person team, effective immediately (applicant need not be a Hoffman Process graduate to apply).

JOB TITLE: Finance Director

REPORTS TO: CFO

MANAGES: Finance Manager (who themselves oversee two additional Finance Administrators)

JOB STATUS: Exempt -- Full-time

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, and a positive attitude
  • Superb attention to detail, highly organized, able to follow instruction and multi-task
  • Several years of experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, and Word), and PC hardware a must (bonus for QuickBooks desktop and Microsoft Planner experience)
  • Few years + experience managing a team in a finance role
  • Successful track record managing tax preparation and audits (bonus for Canada currency and non-profit audit experience)
  • Senior level administration experience of payroll including reporting, recording JE, reconciling (bonus for BambooHR HRIS experience)
  • Ability to work in-office, in-person in San Rafael, CA during normal business hours 7am to 6pm, and seeking a long-term and full-time position

DESCRIPTION:

This will be an in-office and full-time finance operations manager of all day-to-day needs from the team and CFO and will include managing and delivering payroll, assisting with tax and audit for USA and Canada, creating monthly financials, and acting as assistant to CFO. As a key member of the highly successful and joyful finance team, this role would directly report to the CFO but be able to prioritize and function independently and take full ownership for the maintenance of systems and accuracy of records.

Compensation commensurate with applicant’s experience ranging from $90-105K for full-time with review after six months; incredible package of benefits available after 60-day review including 4 weeks PTO, 401k and Roth 401k matching and contributions, medical/dental/vision at 90% / FSA / generous wellness / technology equipment / and professional development stipends. This role would have a solo or shared executive office with one other team member in downtown San Rafael. Work hours are flexible between 7am and 6pm each weekday - WFH after trial period will still be very limited for this in-person role.
