Our client, a leading organization undergoing a strategic Linux transformation , is seeking a Linux Systems Engineer to play a pivotal role in shaping their future-state Linux environment. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with long-term potential for the right candidate.

This role is ideal for a mid-to-senior level Linux engineer who wants to evolve into a Subject Matter Expert (SME) while driving innovation in Linux infrastructure, security, and automation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead Linux Roadmap Development – Design and implement the next-generation Linux infrastructure .
• Drive Oracle Migration – Transition Oracle hosting from outsourced to in-house Linux platforms .
• Serve as Linux SME – Act as the go-to expert for all Linux-related initiatives, best practices, and troubleshooting.
• Standardization & Documentation – Develop Linux build standards, patching processes, and security frameworks .
• Identity & Access Management – Implement Linux AD integration and local account password management .
• Security & Compliance – Define firewall strategies, monitoring tools, and compliance controls .
• Infrastructure Optimization – Assess and deploy the best solutions for Linux networking, monitoring, and cloud strategy .
• Automation & Configuration Management – Implement Red Hat Satellite for RHEL deployment and patching .
• Virtualization & Cloud Strategy – Evaluate and recommend VMware, containers, and cloud-based Linux solutions .

Required Skills & Experience:

• Intermediate to senior-level experience with Linux, ideally on a path to becoming an SME .
• Strong hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) .
• Expertise in Linux build standards, patching, and automation .
• Experience with Linux authentication, security hardening, and compliance .
• Knowledge of Red Hat Satellite for centralized RHEL deployment .

Preferred Experience:

• VMware virtualization and infrastructure management.
• Veeam for backup and recovery.
