Base pay range

$165,000.00/yr - $195,000.00/yr

Position Overview: The Payroll Director will oversee all payroll operations, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing for a large and diverse workforce. This role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and in-depth knowledge of payroll systems and compliance. The Payroll Director will work closely with HR, Finance, and department leaders to maintain compliance and enhance payroll operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Payroll Management: Oversee end-to-end payroll processes, ensuring accurate and timely payments for approximately 3,000 employees across multiple locations.
  2. Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations, including tax filings, wage garnishments, and benefit deductions.
  3. System Oversight: Manage and optimize payroll systems, integrating them with HRIS and financial systems for efficiency and accuracy.
  4. Auditing and Reporting: Conduct regular audits to ensure data integrity and compliance. Generate detailed reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  5. Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the payroll team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
  6. Process Improvement: Continuously review and improve payroll processes, leveraging technology and best practices to enhance efficiency.
  7. Collaboration: Partner with HR and Finance teams to align payroll activities with broader organizational goals and strategies.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  2. 7+ years of experience in payroll management, including multi-state payroll for large organizations.
  3. Strong knowledge of payroll systems, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
  4. Experience with major payroll software (e.g., ADP, Workday, or similar).
  5. Proven leadership and team management skills.
  6. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  7. CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) designation preferred.
