Overview
The Mechanical Engineer is a key member of Stryten Energy’s Essential Power Chargers product engineering team. The Engineer will be accountable for the mechanical engineering design, verification, and validation for new product developments, and will maintain the designs for existing products. The Engineer will perform critical engineering tasks including design, analysis, prototype testing & validation, and final design release of complex mechanical solutions based on market and project requirements. Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional product development environment are essential.
Responsibilities
Manages and controls the configuration of technical data Implements technical data management within Solidworks PDM Suggests, plans, performs all analytic work associated with mechanical engineering including static and dynamic stress analysis, tolerance stack-up analysis, FMEA, etc. Supports the tools and applications used by the Mechanical Engineering team Creates 3D models and 2D drawings of parts and assemblies Validates designs through testing and trials Liaises with other departments and suppliers as required Maintains engineering standards and processes Additional responsibilities as needed?to support the team and company goals.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering required Minimum 5 years of experience in product development Experience and understanding of fundamental design calculations and techniques Understanding of GD&T per ASME Y14.5-2009 Knowledge of FEA (any combination of structural, heat transfer and fluid dynamics) is a plus Familiarity with MIL-STD-810 for environmental testing, or MIL-STD-31000A and/or ASME Y14.100 standards for drawings, UL2580 for safety, or UN38.3 for Lithium battery transportation, is a plus Excellent understanding of mechanical principles, tolerancing and strength of materials Demonstrated creative problem solving skills Proficient in Solidworks and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Experience within a production environment is a plus Strong English language, verbal communication and writing skills required Experience working in a product development environment or related engineering role preferred Experience and understanding of one or several of the following areas: lithium energy storage, vanadium redox flow batteries, vehicle power and electronics, injection molding or associated manufacturing processes, welding standards and practices, quality assurance protocols Strong ability to work with multiple products/projects and track product life cycle from planning through launch Strong interpersonal relationship and leadership skills Highly motivated problem solver with meticulous attention to detail Responsiveness to external and internal customers and a can-do, positive attitude BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS Action oriented Peer relationships Problem solving Organizing Drive for results Time management Detail oriented WORK ENVIRONMENT (include physical requirements) Office based environment Occasional on-site visits to manufacturing or supplier facilities Occasional short-term travel may be required
