We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Data Science Engineer II with a strong interest in AI/ML and advanced analytics to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about developing and applying data science techniques to solve complex customer problems. This role will involve hands-on experience in machine learning, statistical analysis, and data-driven decision-making to help shape the data strategy and drive insights from large, diverse datasets. This position will be onsite in Tysons Corner, VA and requires an active and transferable U.S. government issued TS/SCI Poly security clearance.

What You Will Do:

  • Collaborate with data and subject matter experts and customer teams to seek, understand, validate, interpret, and correctly use data and business insights
  • Train, validate and deploy machine learning pipelines
  • Test, troubleshoot, and enhance customer software applications with and on behalf of customers
  • Identify application performance bottlenecks and implement optimizations
  • Write application specifications, tutorials and documentation

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued TS/SCI Poly security clearance is required prior to start date
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Experience in data science methods, including statistical analysis, machine learning, and data visualization.
  • Experience identifying and resolving operational or data-related issues using documented procedures and prior case studies.
  • Experience making small-scale system and process improvements to enhance functionality and efficiency.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Applied Machine Learning experience (regression, classification, supervised, and unsupervised learning) with a strong mathematical foundation in linear algebra, calculus, probability, and statistics.
  • Experience in time-series data analysis, including cleansing and normalization, and experience with scalable Machine Learning (MapReduce, streaming).
  • Software development expertise in Python and JavaScript, with experience using Git or other version control systems.
  • Ability to drive projects independently and collaboratively, demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment to organizational goals.
  • Verbal and written communication skills

The salary range for this role is 72,000 USD - 144,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
