Job Summary

The CFS Margin Analyst is responsible for analyzing and optimizing profitability within the logistics and trucking industry by analyzing pricing strategies, operational costs, and market trends. This role involves evaluating freight rates, fuel surcharges, and cost structures to maximize margins while ensuring competitive pricing. Working closely with finance, sales, and operations teams to provide data-driven insights that support strategic decision-making and improve overall financial performance. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of financial metrics, and the ability to identify opportunities for revenue growth and cost reduction.

Essential Job Functions

1. Reporting and Forecasting: Develop financial models and dashboards to track revenue, costs, and margins, helping leadership make informed decisions.
2. Identify, build and drive full-scope order-to-cash price structure audit projects to create best-in-class order-to-cash billing models, with maximum margin and 100% data integrity.
3. Collaborating & Communication: Work cross-functionally with sales, finance, supply chain, and operations to align strategies and drive profitability. Ability to strategically present to and influence decision makers for buy-in.
4. Margin & Profitability Analysis: Assess and track margins at various levels, including lane, customer fleet, and service type (e.g., full truckload and LTL).
5. Market & Competitor Analysis: Monitor industry trends, market conditions, and competitor pricing to ensure competitive positioning.
6. Technology & Automation: Leverage TMS (Transportation Management Systems), ERP systems, and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.) to streamline reporting and analysis.
7. Contract & Bid Support: Provide financial insights for customer contract negotiations, RFP responses, and freight bids to ensure sustainable profitability.

Skills :

1. Strong analytical skills to interpret complex data and generate actionable insights.
2. Proactively identify and assess problems and implement appropriate solutions tailored to the teams’ objectives.
3. Understanding of statistical methods to analyze data and identify patterns.
4. Strong understanding of tracking operations, freight rates, and transportation cost structure.
5. Effective communication skills to present findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
6. Advanced knowledge / ability to deep dive in data analysis tools like Excel, SQL, and statistical software packages.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Advanced knowledge / ability to deep dive in data analysis tools like Excel, SQL, and statistical software packages.
2. Extensive experience and knowledge of manipulating large sets of data in Excel and data sheets.
3. Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
4. Strong oral and written communication skills.
5. Ability to work in a projects-based, team environment.
6. Proficient in multi-tasking and managing multiple projects.
7. Strong organizational and time management skills.
8. Ability to be flexible and adapt to change.

Salary Range

$60,000 - $70,000/year base salary + bonus eligibility
