Title: Scrum Master II
Location: Denver, CO (hybrid of remote and onsite 3 days onsite per month during the 2nd week of each month) or potentially 100% remote
Duration: 6-month contract (potential go long-term extend and may also convert to PERM)
The Scrum Master II is responsible for facilitating team level agile processes and release train execution around requirements definition, scope, and delivery. The Scrum Master II must resolve team level impediments, manage risk, and drive continuous improvement throughout the delivery teams and lifecycle. The Scrum Master II has a working level understanding of agile scrum and Kanban principles and practices, and understands the unique opportunities and challenges associated with organizing, facilitating, and continuously aligning the scrum team with the guiding business strategy.
Essential Functions:
- Works with product management, product owners, and business owners to help assure execution alignment for scrum teams. 20%
- Facilitates agile scrum team execution and feature completion tracking for 2 scrum teams. 20%
- Arranges and facilitates daily stand-up meetings, sprint planning, story grooming, and demo/retro. Ensures quick inspection and proper use of agile process. 20%
- Works with multiple in-house and external Scrum teams enterprise-wide to remove impediments and manage dependencies. 15%
- Helps manage risk and dependencies. 10%
- Creates, modifies, publishes and leverages standardized Agile Metrics to facilitate continuous improvement on the Scrum Team. 10%
- Other duties as assigned. 5%
Required Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 3-5 years of experience as a Scrum Master
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
- Must have experience serving as a Full Time Scrum Master (versus being a PM/Scrum Master)
- 3-5 years of experience leading technical and non-technical teams in an Agile environment
- Proven experience in managing multiple Scrum teams
- Must be well versed in the following areas:
- Facilitating Scrum ceremonies – daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospective
- Participating in PI Planning and Scrum of Scrums (SoS) to align teams.
- Coordinating cross-team dependencies between dev teams to ensure feature parity.
- Managing stakeholder transparency through reporting, risk mitigation, and progress updates.
- Facilitating Agile adoption & process improvements
- Serving as an effective manager, collaborator and servant leader
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Should have a continuous improvement mindset
- Advanced computer skills and proficiency in MS Office Suite
- Experience working with JIRA and Confluence
Preferred:
- Intermediate understanding of ITIL Framework
- Experience working with the CDD (Continuous Deployment) framework would be a huge plus.
