Job Title: GIS Mapping Technician
Number of Openings: 1
Location: 325 County Avenue, Secaucus, NJ 07094

Duties:

• Perform assignments related to recording or producing information associated with the construction, operation, and maintenance of Utility Systems.
• Maintain the GIS connected model with information from various sources.
• Perform analysis or queries to assemble data and prepare reports, tabulations, charts, and maps.
• Produce standard prints and ad-hoc plots for field requests.
• Maintain service point data and its relationship to feeding source transformer.
• Track lifespan of utility asset data, including history, inspection, and attachments.
• Resolve conflicting data, mapping, connectivity, and land issues through investigation.
• Perform GIS work pertaining to major projects.
• Operate automated office equipment.
• File records and data pertaining to the work.
• Perform manual or computer-aided drafting.
• Operate a car or light truck.
• Assist other employees in plant work, in the field, or in the office.
• Perform other similar skilled work.
• Required: 1-2 years of GIS experience (school or work-related).

Qualifications:

• Must meet the Company's general requirements.
• Ability to acquire a thorough working knowledge of the company's business applications.
• Knowledge of material, equipment, and apparatus used in the work.
• Understanding of the Utilities' Transmission and Distribution systems.
• Familiarity with various operating and maintenance handbooks and manuals.
• Ability to work at various Client locations based on business needs/workload.
• Valid driver's license to operate motor vehicles in the state of New Jersey.
• Computer skills in MS Office and other Windows applications.

Additional Details (Important):

• Maintain the GIS model on the electric side (not for gas work).
• Perform analysis and custom maps.
• Working in a Union environment—reporting to a supervisor.
• Some tabular data and analysis.
• 5-10% being out in the field.
• GIS experience in any industry but must have knowledge/understanding to update the GIS system.
• MicroStation and AutoCAD experience is a strong plus.
• If field work is required, the expectation is for the person to use their own vehicle.

Listed salary ranges may vary based on experience, qualifications, and local market. Some positions may include bonuses or other incentives.
