VIZIO is looking for a Staff OS Development Engineer to provide technical leadership and architectural guidance in enhancing our current OS and firmware. We’re focused on learning, doing something new and valuable, and encouraging our team to do the same.

What You Will Do

• Support the team to deliver assigned tasks on time.
• Lead a team of software engineers helping them with software development.
• Coding, debugging, bug fixing, and other tasks required to release a software package.
• Collaborate within and across teams including QA and 3rd party partners to deliver a project on time.
• Research and implement functional requirements using up-to-date technology and skills.
• Design the software architecture to support the requirements.
• Review the software design and implementations.
• Maintain clean and modular code for cross-platform architecture.
• Support participation in various trade and industry events, including conferences and sponsored activities.

About You

• You have a successful track record of optimizing existing software as well as architecting for CPU and memory optimized systems.
• You have a passion for writing efficient software to maximize hardware performance.
• You build up those around you.
• You have 10+ years of experience working in the software industry.
• You have 10+ years of software development experience on embedded devices.
• 6+ years of experience working with Linux systems.
• Experience working in memory-constrained environments.
• Experience with systems programming in C/C++.
• Experience with at least one high-level language, such as Python.
• Experience in device driver/kernel-modules/u-boot/board bring-up/filesystem/memory management/SELinux, toolchain/makefile/cmake/build environment setups, Docker containerization, and Snapcraft.
• Highly proficient in C, C++11/14, and experienced in Shell-Scripting, Makefile, JavaScript, Python, git, and bug tracking tools.
• Good communication, problem-solving skills, and a team player.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
