Duration: 4 months

Location: Onsite @ Ashburn, VA

This role will start in February and be onsite in Ashburn, N. Virginia full time for the first couple of months. Then hybrid till the end of the project 06-13-2025.

Summary

Experienced Data Center Engineer with hands-on expertise in Dell and Cisco technologies, focusing on on-site physical layer duties and infrastructure support. Skilled in server and network deployment, hardware installation, structured cabling, and vendor coordination. Adept at working under the direction of Data Center Architects, ensuring seamless operations and compliance with best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  1. On-Site Data Center Support: Perform physical installations, structured cabling, and hardware deployments per Data Center Architect’s direction.
  2. Delivery & Installation Management: Accept shipments, oversee rack/stack of Dell/Cisco hardware, and ensure proper power and network connections.
  3. 3rd Party Coordination: Arrange access for vendors, service providers, and carriers while ensuring compliance with security protocols.
  4. Networking & Infrastructure: Assist with Cisco UCS, Nexus, ACI, Catalyst switches, and patching fiber/copper connections.
  5. Hosting Partner & Carrier Liaison: Work with colocation providers and ISPs to troubleshoot connectivity and network provisioning.
  6. Physical Layer Duties: Install and manage structured cabling (fiber/copper), power distribution, labeling, and equipment mounting.
  7. Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Utilize SolarWinds, SNMP, and CLI tools to diagnose network/server issues.
  8. Security & Compliance: Maintain compliance with ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, and corporate security policies.
  9. Flexibility & Availability: Support night and weekend deployments, maintenance windows, and emergency troubleshooting as needed.

  1. Dell Technologies: PowerEdge Servers, VxRail, PowerStore, EMC Storage (Unity, VMAX, Isilon)
  2. Cisco Networking: Nexus, UCS, ACI, Catalyst, ASR, ISR, Firewalls
  3. Physical Layer Duties: Rack/stack, structured cabling, patching, labeling, power distribution
  4. Data Center Operations: Accepting deliveries, coordinating 3rd parties, managing access
  5. Hosting & Carrier Coordination: Working with hosting partners and telecom carriers
  6. Virtualization & Cloud: VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, Azure, AWS
  7. Monitoring & Troubleshooting: SolarWinds, Ansible, PowerShell, Python, SNMP
  8. Security & Compliance: Firewall policies, VLAN segmentation, PCI-DSS, ISO 27001
  9. Availability: Flexible for night and weekend work as required.
Certifications (Preferred)
  1. Dell EMC Certified Specialist – PowerEdge/Storage
  2. Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) / CCNP Data Center
  3. BICSI Certification (Preferred for cabling expertise) CompTIA Server+ / Network+
