Group/Division

KLA's Global Products Group (GPG) is responsible for creating all of KLA’s metrology and inspection products. The RAPID division is the world-leading provider of reticle inspection solutions for the semiconductor industry.

Job Description

KLA is looking for a staff-level principal optical engineer. This person will be an optical architect/lead optical engineer in the optical engineering group in the photomask inspection division. Specific deliverables include ultra-high precision optical system design, optical alignment methodology, and analysis of various optical modules.

Responsibilities

  • Lead optical design and analysis, providing technical recommendations.
  • Investigate design options evaluating tolerances and optical performance.
  • Translate system requirements into optical design and manufacturing requirements.
  • Perform tolerancing analysis considering alignment processes and system calibrations.
  • Design and implement optical alignment and metrology processes.
  • Follow the complete design process, including design reviews and testing.

Qualifications

  • Experience in high precision imaging and illumination design, preferably in semiconductor tools.
  • Proficiency in optical design software such as CodeV or Zemax.
  • Strong understanding of optical metrology tools and data.
  • Experience in building and aligning complex optical systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Experience

  • 10+ years in high precision optical system development.
  • Experience working with top-tier optical suppliers.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Personal Skills

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong customer focus and commitment to quality.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in assignments.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (Doctorate in Optics/Physics or Master's with 8+ years of experience).

Education

  • MS or Ph.D. in Optical Engineering (preferred) or Physics.
