The Learning & Development Specialist reports to and collaborates with the Region’s L&D Manager and works with subject matter experts in the region to identify needs and create development solutions that drive business initiatives. The Learning & Development Specialist will engage learners in a classroom, virtually and/or on-the-job through thoughtful and planned agendas. He/she will primarily engage the existing training including peer group sessions for several job roles and provide support for all training programs within the region.

  • Support Region L&D in creating and maintaining learning events and tracking in the LMS.
  • Develop internal network of SMEs to effectively and efficiently support those SMEs to deliver training.
  • Oversee administrative program tasks and ensure they are completed on time, are accurate, and that current information is being used.
  • Ensure region L&D needs are being met by utilizing the following skills:

Instructional Design

  • Implement basic changes or adaptations to the L&D programs with support from Manager.
  • Design and/or facilitate curriculum, programs, or learning solutions as appropriate.
  • Prepare and develop instructional materials in a variety of learning formats ensuring that learning technologies are leveraged where possible, using proven learning methods.

Training Delivery

  • Facilitate training approach aligned with course objectives and learner needs.
  • Establish credibility with all audiences: field operations, regional administration, etc.
  • Establish trust and credibility with learners through proven Adult Learning Theory methods.
  • Support the delivery of L&D programs across the organization by coordinating and executing program logistics, organizing necessary materials, and coordinating facility support with minimal supervision.
  • Prepare and maintain L&D files, including program evaluations, nomination/attendance records, and learning schedules, ensuring that these items are timely and accurate.
  • Serve as a point of contact for program queries, internal and external to the organization, then communicating those to the L&D Manager as necessary for action.
  • Collaborate with coordinators on the Learning Calendar and Inbox to ensure alignment in programs, and coverage for support as needed.

Learning Technology

  • Use LMS to manage the administration of all training activities and learner data including registration, transcripts, compliance records and certifications.
  • Provide excellent administrative and customer service support when needed.

Training Support

  • Liaise with multiple learning partners including managers, L&D Team, and training vendors.
  • Monitor training activities, manage content and provide recommendations for all training solutions based on business needs.
  • Support L&D Team by maintaining learning budget including the organization of invoices, reconciling costs, spending finance requests, and distributing charges to the appropriate project and task codes.
  • Develop and maintain regional communications such as LMS updates and schedules and newsletters to ensure employees have knowledge of training and development events and resources.
  • Develop solutions for ad hoc projects and initiatives in support of regional needs.
  • Occasional travel within the region to jobsites, meetings and training events.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or Education related field required.
  • Proven experience supporting, designing, developing, and facilitating training in a business setting.
  • Demonstrated project management experience and ability to prioritize activities.
  • Knowledge and experience in instructional design.
  • Independently motivated with proven ability to follow through on initiatives.
  • Highly engaging and collaborative style in working cross-functionally.
  • Design and development of instructional materials in a variety of media.
  • Ability to encourage participation and motivate learners.
  • Flexibility to deliver training in all formats: classroom, virtual, on-the-job, synchronous, asynchronous, etc.
  • Understand the program evaluation metrics and make basic decisions that align with achieving or exceeding the metric goals.
  • The technical aptitude or experience to work with an LMS, online development tools, and key Microsoft Office tools such as Outlook, SharePoint and PowerPoint.

For Southern California locations only, the salary range for this position is: $80,000 - $110,000. This does not include possible bonus and other benefits which can impact total compensation. Compensation offered may vary based on work location, experience, qualifications, specialty, training, and market and business considerations, among other factors.
