Position: Water Treatment Equipment Engineer
Location: Headquarters – Moon Township, PA

Hours of work: Full-time position with hours Monday – Friday 9:00-5:00 PM
Travel: 50% or more to visit customer sites
The Water Treatment Equipment Engineer will be responsible for the setup and operation of pilot columns, troubleshooting systems, conduct equipment training for customers and team members, and collecting samples of media or water within the Drinking Water Solutions business line. This role requires a high degree of mechanical aptitude and a strong understanding of water treatment principles and equipment. Demonstrated experience with water treatment equipment preferred. This role will report directly to our applications group and serve as technical support for current projects or future opportunities.
Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to)
- Pilot Testing: Plan, install, and maintain pilot column test setups to ensure optimal performance and safety, involving regular travel to job sites.
- Troubleshooting Equipment: Diagnose and resolve mechanical/hydraulic issues in equipment and systems, ensuring minimal downtime and efficient operation
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to support project goals and ensure seamless integration of equipment and pilot columns
- Project Engagement: Participate in Equipment Kick-Off meetings to discuss initial equipment details and any training requirements. Planning/Coordinating: Attend and participate in weekly application engineering check-in calls
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of setups, maintenance activities, and troubleshooting procedures
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions to enhance system performance and reliability
- Training: Assist in developing and then deliver training programs for customers and internal staff on the topics of operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment
- This task includes classroom style training for customers and Calgon Carbon personnel
Qualifications
- A Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent certification from a 4-year college or university is required (Civil, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering)
- 2-3 years of water treatment equipment design, installation, and use
- Experience with assembling/wiring pumps (e.g., single-phase, 115 V), filters/tanks, and piping for small systems is preferred
- Proficiency in reading engineering drawings is preferred
- Willingness to travel extensively (~50% or more) to customer sites
