Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented team member to join our Prepared Foods team as a support member. This role involves preparation, counter service, sanitation, and stocking of products in accordance with store Standard Operating Procedures.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and a passion for natural foods and the mission of Whole Foods Market.

Responsibilities

  • Cuts, prepares, and serves hot and cold foods including meats, cheeses, sandwiches, burritos, wraps, salad, and pizza.
  • Samples products to customers and provides excellent customer service.
  • Stocks hot and cold cases and displays with prepared foods from kitchen, walk-in preparation, and refrigerators.
  • Rotates products to ensure freshness and maintains a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment.
  • Completes spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets as required.
  • Assists with periodic inventory checks and maximizes sales potential through effective procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product.
  • Follows established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Ability to sell proactively and learn basic knowledge of all products carried in department.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions and procedures.
  • Effective time management and organization skills, as well as a strong work ethic.
  • Understanding of and compliance with WFM quality goals and ability to meet customer service expectations.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

  • Lift 50 pounds and stand/walk 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day.
  • Exposure to temperatures: <32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), >90 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Ability to work in wet and dry conditions and use tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
