We are currently looking for an experienced Sr. Engineer Innovations to join our team.

Title: Sr. Engineer Innovations

Location: Newark CA (Onsite Role)

Contract position

Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute significantly to the design and development of exceptional interior and exterior vehicle components and systems.
• Identify and evaluate potential solution providers based on our stringent expectations and targets, sharing insights across the organization.
• Collaborate closely with design engineering teams to explore new features, develop creative solutions, and address challenges.
• Work interactively within a cross-functional team of marketing, design, and vehicle engineering, prioritizing the overall benefit of the vehicle.
• Develop and implement innovative tools and approaches to streamline the development process.
• Partner with interior trim suppliers to ensure the delivery of technically excellent components and systems on schedule.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience leading the development of interior or exterior components and systems (e.g., hard trim, soft trim, instrument panels, door trims, consoles, headliners, fascias, underbody trims, etc.).
• Solid understanding of automotive industry benchmarks, trends, and supplier capabilities concerning interior components and systems.
• Proven experience in creating and refining technical product specifications and timelines to accelerate the development cycle towards start of production (SOP).
• Proficiency in CAD software (preferably CATIA V5/V6) for creating 2D/3D concept drawings, packaging layouts, and DFM studies.
• Experience with vehicle and product launches, including hands-on process development experience.
• Demonstrated ability to lead innovative product or process development initiatives.
• Strong analytical skills related to manufacturing processes and cost analysis.

Preferred Skills:

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment and adapt to evolving challenges.
• Comprehensive experience throughout the program cycle from concept to production launch in automotive interior and/or exterior components and systems.
• Deep knowledge of vehicle components and a track record of technical excellence and successful program execution.
• Expertise in plastic part design, manufacturing technologies, and safety regulations.
• Competency in materials selection, plastic injection molding/DFM, and GD&T.
• Strong passion for delivering outstanding products as part of a skilled team.
• Hands-on approach that complements theoretical knowledge.
• Excellent communication skills and technical acumen.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline such as Plastics, Manufacturing, or Tool-Making.

Pay for this position is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. As a contractor, you may also be eligible for health benefits such as health, dental, and vision as well as access to a 401K plan.
