Job Title: Chemical Engineer
Location: Indianapolis (Relocation provided as needed)
Position Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Chemical Engineer with a strong background in chemical engineering and safety to join our team at a new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. This is a unique opportunity to be part of the startup team for a greenfield manufacturing site. The successful candidate will help build and maintain safety protocols, process hazard analysis, and ensure the safe production of complex chemical compounds, ensuring compliance with industry codes and standards.
Responsibilities:
- Provide oversight and support for process hazard analysis and risk assessments on new chemicals and equipment.
- Oversee operations within the manufacturing units.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Roll out process safety management program elements such as employee participation, process hazard analysis, and management of change.
- Evaluate and address process safety risks and hazards to prevent safety incidents such as chemical reactions that could lead to dangerous situations.
- Support the creation of a safety-first culture in the new facility, guiding the team through a transition to operational excellence.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in process safety and chemical manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of Process Hazard Analysis, Process Safety Management, and Center for Chemical Process Safety guidelines.
- Experience working with complex chemical processes at large-scale production.
- Hands-on experience with safety protocols for handling hazardous materials and chemicals
- Demonstrated ability to lead process safety efforts in the design, startup, and operational phases of new manufacturing facilities.
Preferred:
- Experience in large-scale production operations.
- Familiarity with industry safety standards and protocols.
- Experience in process safety culture development for new sites or during major transitions.
