Aegis Worldwide is partnered with a medical device manufacturer in Indianapolis, IN who is looking to hire a Senior Level Plant Engineer. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plant Engineer to oversee the Maintenance and CNC departments within our facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering, coupled with hands-on leadership experience in plant operations, including infrastructure projects such as plant expansion and new construction. This role is critical for ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and continuous improvement, while also managing capital expenditure projects, budgeting, training, and documentation processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance and CNC Department Oversight:
- Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the Maintenance and CNC departments to ensure equipment reliability, optimal performance, and minimal downtime.
- Supervise a team of engineers, technicians, and operators, providing guidance and support for troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance activities.
- Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to enhance equipment lifespan and efficiency.
Capital Expenditure Projects:
- Oversee and manage capital expenditure projects, including plant expansion and new plant construction, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
- Coordinate project planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and execution while adhering to budget and timeline constraints.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external contractors to ensure projects are completed to specification and comply with safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
Budgeting and Cost Control:
- Develop and manage departmental budgets for maintenance, capital projects, and operational improvements.
- Monitor ongoing costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction, efficiency improvements, and optimized resource utilization.
- Prepare and present financial reports and project forecasts to senior management.
Training and Development:
- Design and implement training programs for staff in maintenance procedures, equipment operation, safety protocols, and new technologies.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and skill development across the team, ensuring alignment with industry standards and best practices.
Documentation and Compliance:
- Develop, maintain, and update standard operating procedures (SOPs), maintenance schedules, and equipment manuals.
- Ensure all activities comply with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, project progress, and performance metrics.
Continuous Improvement and Safety:
- Lead initiatives to improve plant performance, reduce downtime, and enhance overall plant safety and efficiency.
- Identify opportunities for automation, process optimization, and the integration of new technologies to improve operational performance.
- Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to OSHA and other relevant safety standards.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in plant engineering, including direct oversight of maintenance/electrical and CNC departments.
- Proven track record of successfully managing capital expenditure projects, such as plant expansions and new construction.
- Strong understanding of budgeting, cost control, and financial management within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience in developing and implementing training programs for technical staff.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and safety standards in manufacturing environments.

- Proficient in engineering and maintenance management software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Physical Demands:
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
- Occasional travel may be required for site inspections, vendor meetings, and project management.
