Job Description

A law firm located in Edina with a core focus on Insurance Defense, including Premises Liability, Damage to Property claims, and defending Personal Injury cases (e.g., slip-and-fall cases at national retail chains) is seeking a Litigation Legal Assistant (LAA) with at least 3–4+ years of experience in civil litigation to join their growing team. For the right candidate, this role has the potential to evolve into an LAA/Paralegal hybrid position. Key Responsibilities:

  • Litigation Support: Provide support throughout the litigation lifecycle, demonstrating a thorough understanding of civil litigation and the preparation of legal pleadings.
  • E-Filing: Responsible for accurate and timely e-filing of legal documents at the state level (required expertise).
  • Calendaring and Scheduling: Manage case calendars and deadlines to align with the litigation workflow. Prepare schedules and ensure compliance with court requirements.
  • Document Preparation and Proofreading: Draft, proofread, and format legal correspondence and documents with precision and professionalism.
  • Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support to attorneys, including organizing case files and managing workflow.

Note: The attorneys primarily use Dragon dictation software, so minimal dictation duties are required for this role.


Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in civil litigation (4+ years preferred).
  • Technical Skills:
  • Knowledge of the litigation lifecycle and pleadings.
  • Proficiency in state-level e-filing systems is required .
  • Strong calendaring and document-proofreading skills.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to accuracy and detail in all work completed.
  • Work Ethic: High level of accountability and ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy legal environment.
