The Salvation Army is seeking an experienced (Director of Major Gifts) Divisional Resource Development Director in Jackson, MS to lead, manage, cultivate, solicit and steward the major gifts program in the Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi Division.

About this opportunity

This Divisional Resource Development Director position will lead, train and mentor a team of professionals to raise funds to enable the mission of The Salvation Army in Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi.

Key responsibilities:

• The candidate will develop and nurture current and prospective donors, including individuals, foundations, government agencies, and corporations in an assigned geographic region of the Division.
• Respond to inquiries and communicate with donors, advisory organization members, Salvation Army employees and leaders.
• The position has direct oversight for a team of professionals and will be responsible for training, mentoring and accountability of its members.
• There is required day and overnight travel within the three-state region and the ideal candidate will reside in Jackson, MS.

You are an ideal match for the role if you have:

• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (preferably in a related field of study) AND Five years’ experience performing progressively responsible fundraising work in a charitable organization with demonstrated successful major donor fundraising experience with three years supervisory experience required preferably leading a development team.
• Experience in leading a team of fund-raising professionals.
• Proven history of establishing and maintaining strong long-term donor relationships
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Track record of achieving goals
• Prior experience with a donor management system
