Job Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following but are not limited to the job specifications contained herein. Additional duties or job functions that can be performed safely may be required as deemed necessary by Envolve or its affiliated companies.

Main Tax Director Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation of income tax return workpapers for 200+ partnership and corporate entities
  • Review of entity tax returns prepared by our external accounting firms
  • Prepare and file miscellaneous state and local tax returns
  • Maintain tax depreciation schedules for all entities
  • Prepare/review LIHTC computations
  • Work with internal acquisition and development groups on LIHTC development structuring
  • Research and document tax technical issues as well as assist with IRS audits and notices
  • Track and maintain master list of entities and filing requirements
  • Some travel may be required for training and meetings


Possible Additional Responsibilities:

  • Give accurate and timely advice and counsel to executives and other operations personnel regarding numerous legal topics (labor law, partnerships, contracts, corporate finance etc.)
  • Communicate and negotiate on behalf of the company with external parties (regulators, external counsel, public authorities etc.)
  • Draft and review agreements, contracts, and other legal documents to protect the company's full legal rights or manage the process thereof.
  • Provide assistance with mergers, acquisitions, sales and financing.
  • Keep abreast of legislative changes that may affect the company and its affiliates.
  • Provide advice regarding the formation and operation of legal entities such as partnerships, corporations, and limited liability companies.
  • Evaluating various types of insurance coverage relating to real estate assets.
  • Assist with the defense and settlement of both property and general liability claims.
  • Review Limited Partnership Agreements to ensure that they are written in a way that is consistent with the business purposes defined by our goals for that property.
  • Assist the project development team in bringing in new properties and financings.
  • Engage and be a resource for ECS and MPM.


EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related degree
  • Certified Public Accountant (Preferred)


ADDITIONAL SKILLS/PREFERENCE:

  • Juris Doctorate or Masters of Tax
  • Knowledge of U.S. federal tax laws, particularly partnership taxation and low-income housing tax credits (LIHTC)
  • Experience with Yardi accounting software a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize multiple projects
  • Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work in team-oriented environment


EXPERIENCE:

  • Preferred experience with real estate development and financing, drafting of legal documents such as leases, sales contracts, vendor contracts and letters of intent, project financing, and general employment matters.
