We are searching for a Sales Engineer to join our team!

Job Summary:

The Sales Engineer works closely with the Systems, Automation, and Technology Teams to create proposals, design material handling systems, and specify technology deployment strategies, which involve various aspects of our system designs, equipment, and technology portfolio. This role allows you to work with some of the latest technologies in the ever-changing material handling field, including racking systems, pick modules, conveyors, high-speed sorters, AGVs and AMRs, ASRS, light-directed picking, proximity/location, and other automated technologies. The Sales Engineer has an integral role in the Systems & Automation department by collecting and analyzing data to estimate materials and labor required to execute material handling projects. This position's responsibility starts with the request for proposal (RFP) from potential customers or consultants (internal or external) and ends by ensuring a successful implementation in conjunction with a Project Manager. This individual will interface directly with the internal sales team, account managers, project managers, customers, and vendors to establish the proposal. This role will include developing and/or validating multiple design concepts as the projects evolve and expand.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Drive and participate in internal and external customer reviews, including initial reviews of opportunities, design reviews, and final proposal presentations.
  • Provide concepts to customers and the sales team to aid in sales.
  • Select equipment with details necessary for customer acceptance.
  • Develop pre-sales material handling equipment bill of materials based on RFQ inputs.
  • Prepare estimates of probable costs for labor, equipment, materials, and subcontracts for the project based on quotations, schematic drawings, and contract bids.
  • Work with our legal team and the customer’s legal team to execute Master Service Agreements and Scope of Work agreements. Ensure project documents and contracts are completed and signed to minimize our exposure and risk on projects.
  • Set up systems and procedures for cost monitoring and reporting.
  • Create and execute project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
  • Communicate with the sales team, suppliers, and customers.
  • Help ensure projects stay within budget despite changes or delays.
  • Advise contractors on adjustments to make on a project to ensure it stays within budget.
  • Create and maintain a directory of contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Keep up with market trends to ensure proper pricing and estimates.
  • Perform additional duties as required or assigned.
