Chief Operating Officer (COO) – Addictive Medicine / Recovery Centers / Behavioral Health

Birmingham, AL

Lincoln Healthcare | Direct Hire Opportunity

Pay Rate: $290,000 - $300,000 base, plus sign-on, and up to 100% annual bonus

Chief Operating Officer is needed to oversee 1000+ multi-state employees across operations, clinical, and administrative departments for a large addictive medicine client. Reporting to the CEO, this role ensures efficient service delivery, maintains high-quality standards, and drives strategic initiatives to achieve organizational goals, while prioritizing patient care and compliance within the behavioral health treatment setting.


Requirements:

  • Behavioral Health / Drug and Alcohol Addiction Treatment Industry experience
  • At least 3 years of successful multisite operational excellence, including budget management and quality improvement.
  • At least 5 years of executive leadership.
  • Ability to travel 50% to site locations
  • Master’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulations and compliance requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership-

  • Manage and coordinate all operational aspects including clinical programs, admissions, discharge planning, patient flow, and facility maintenance.
  • Oversee department budgets, resource allocation, and cost control measures to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes.


Clinical Quality Assurance-

  • Ensure adherence to clinical best practices, treatment protocols, and regulatory compliance standards across all treatment modalities.
  • Collaborate with clinical leadership to monitor patient outcomes, identify quality gaps, and implement quality improvement initiatives.
  • Lead the development and implementation of clinical policies and procedures aligned with evidence-based practices.


Staff Management-

  • Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing clinical and administrative staff team across all departments.
  • Foster a positive work environment that promotes staff engagement and collaboration.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to department managers and clinical staff.


Strategic Planning-

  • Partner with the CEO to develop and execute strategic plans, including expansion into new markets and service offerings.
  • Identify growth opportunities and implement strategies to increase patient volume and revenue generation.
  • Stays informed about industry trends and regulatory changes.


External Relations:

  • Represent at industry events, conferences, and community gatherings.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders including insurance providers, referral sources, and regulatory agencies.
