Job Description:

The Ultrasound Technologist II provides excellent customer service by performing ultrasound examinations under the direction of a physician for identification of abnormalities leading to patient diagnosis.

  • Shift Details: 7on/7off graveyard position, Wednesday - Wednesday 9:00pm to 7:00am

Essential Functions

  • Maintains American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and modality-specific competency in all clinical and technical functions.

  • Ensures proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam.

  • Performs exams per department protocol and reviews images for quality, clarity, and accuracy.

  • Completes studies within acceptable time limits without compromising patient care or quality. Assists and instructs students and other Radiology Techs in exam protocols, procedures, positioning, and equipment.

  • Provides appropriate patient education, ensures patient comfort, and addresses concerns.

  • Practices appropriate infection control and sterile techniques.

  • Understands and operates equipment and related information systems to ensure quality images.

  • Keeps accurate records of patient information, procedures performed, and any adverse reactions.

  • Follows protocols for medical necessity, coding, charging, consents, QC programs, and reporting equipment failures.

  • Demonstrates proficiency with all clinical equipment within the department and all exam types.

  • Exhibits good safety practices in body substance protection, cleaning of equipment, using proper sterile techniques, and removing any expired materials.

  • Thoroughly and accurately completes all required documentation, including time stamps and image storage.

Qualifications

  • Must have completed a minimum of two additional years of experience relevant to the department post obtaining Ultrasound Tech I. (Primary Children's one of the two years must be pediatric experience)

  • American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) Registry - Successful completion of one additional registry pertinent to the department beyond Ultrasound Technologist I or (SPI + 2 registries). Options include Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN), abdominal, neuro, breast, pediatric, Vascular, or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS). (Primary Children's one of the two registries must be pediatric)

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$41.22 - $63.59
