Natchaug Hospital is Eastern Connecticut’s leading provider for children, adolescents and adults with mental illness and substance abuse addictions. Natchaug Hospital's Journey House program is a 13-bed specialized residential treatment facility on the Mansfield campus for adolescent girls ages 12 to 18 who are involved in the court-system. Journey House offers a variety of evidence-based treatment modalities that are carried out in individual, group and family settings, such as:  Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), The Seven Challenges® substance abuse treatment, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Emotional Freedom Technique and Trauma-informed yoga.

Position Summary:

The Director will provide clinical and administrative leadership for Journey house, which include program operations, quality improvement, fiscal and budgetary management and regulatory compliance.    The Director, working closely with organizational leadership, community and state agencies, will ensure that exceptional care is provided.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Ensures standards of efficiency of intake, service provision and discharge are met to maximize and achieve program goals
  • Provides oversight and direction on clinical programing
  • In collaboration with Finance, develops and manages program budget
  • Ensures that systems are developed and maintained so the program meets relevant licensing and accreditation standards, CSSD, The Joint Commission, etc.
  • Monitors and reports on key quality improvement indicators and develops strategies for attaining Quality Improvement goals.  Designs, participates and drives Quality Improvement activities.
  • Functions as the organization’s PREA Coordinator, working with the PREA Manager to develop, implement and oversee agency efforts to ensure compliance with all PREA standards in Journey House
  • Develops and fosters collaborative relationships with hospital, community and statewide agencies.  
  • Serves as a resource to senior leadership team, management team and medical leadership related to the programming needs of the program
  • Works closely with the Court Stabilization Service Division (CSSD) leadership on program contracts, adhering to program services, and providing care to youth
  • A strong understanding of union contracts and ability to work within contract provisions. Periodic participation in union negotiations.
  • Provides leadership and management for direct reports, including staff training and development, allocation of staffing resources, work flow management, performance monitoring, pro-active problem resolution. Works closely with educational leadership to coordinate and meet resident educational goals

Qualifications

  • Current CT licensure as a LCSW, LMFT, LPC, LADC, or psychologist
  • Master’s Degree in Mental Health and/or Substance Abuse field is required
  • Five plus years of experience working with an adolescent behavioral health population
  • Five plus years of progressive clinical and administrative leadership experience
  • In-depth knowledge of clinical treatment modalities, such as DBT, TF-CBT, ART, etc.
  • Visible leader with excellent interpersonal communication skills who relates well with all levels of the organization
  • A creative, forward thinking leader with the proven ability to engage, coach and mentor direct reports, colleagues and other key stakeholders
