OverviewAs an experienced and knowledgeable consultant, the Principal Consultant will be the project manager on the more complex projects taken on by the team within their Region. Complies with all company operating procedures and policies. Maintains a high level of customer/client satisfaction and works to develop new and repeat business. Acknowledges client concerns and responds quickly to resolve problems. Works under minimal supervision, exercising initiative and independent judgment in the performance of assigned tasks.
Essential Job Functions- Design of restoration of facades, roofs and waterproofing - Field inspections and documentation of restoration work in progress.
- Leads by example and establishes a positive, professional work environment.
- Completes assignments in Principal Consultant's own field of professional expertise.
- Assist in preparing proposals and scopes of work for projects.
- Ensures that deliverables, including reports and proposals, prepared by staff members meet Rimkus standards of accuracy/professionalism and are properly signed and sealed.
- Knowledge, training, and experience are the distinguishing characteristics of a Principal Consultant.
- Minimal training or oversight because the Principal Consultant should be prepared for the work and already have a "book of business" and be proficient at growing their practice.
- Less experienced staff may shadow or assist a Principal Consultant on projects for training purposes, but the Principal Consultant will not be directly responsible for the training or the success of the trainee.
- Assists in marketing activities to promote the practice area and build relationships with current and future clients.
- Reviews all draft invoices before submission as final invoices.
- Resolves issues that are presented by our clients in a quick and satisfactory manner.
- Ensure that deliverables meet our guaranteed 2-day turnaround.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Certification- Minimum bachelor's degree in civil, structural, architecture, or other related technical area required. Advanced degree appreciated.
- 10 years of applicable experience with building envelopes including restoration, consulting, and forensics.
- Professional licensure and/or certification required or supplemented by additional years of applicable experience.
Required Skills and Abilities- Experience with inspection and documentation of existing facades, roof and waterproofing.
- Professionalism and ability to handle details of a confidential nature.
- Strong critical-thinking and interpersonal skills.
- Superior verbal/written communication skills.
Physical Demands, Overtime, and Travel RequirementsPhysical Demands - While performing this job, employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb, bend, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and drive a motor vehicle to client sites or job sites. Employee may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Clear vision and depth perception are also necessary.
In addition to physical requirements, employee must be sharp, focused, and alert when performing his or her duties and when speaking and interacting with clients, preparing written reports of findings, and testifying in deposition or trial. This includes possessing the mental aptitude, cognition, concentration, and state of mind necessary to perform his or her job duties, with negligible distractions that could jeopardize employee's work productivity, quality of work, and safety to self and others.
Overtime - This position is classified as salaried with an exempt FLSA status. Regular working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with one hour for lunch. There will be periods where overtime will be required, which the employee will need to comply with in order to meet the demands of the position.
Travel Requirements - This position requires up to 25% travel. Some out-of-area and overnight travel may be required.
The Salary Range for this position is $90,000.00 - $140,000.00 and is dependent on education, experience, location and certifications/licensure.
