Supply Chain & Operations is a major functionally-oriented strategy and consulting practice. We are seeking to recruit a Senior Manager with strong strategy consulting experience and a history of supply chain & operations projects to focus on our transportation and distribution needs, emphasizing practical experience in moving, storing, and transporting materials and goods across various modes such as truck, rail, barge, marine, and air.

Key Responsibilities:

Transportation and Distribution Strategy:
  • Lead the development and implementation of logistics strategies optimizing transportation and distribution operations across multiple modes: truck, rail, barge, marine, and air.
  • Collaborate across One Accenture to define strategic objectives, key performance indicators (KPIs), north star vision for transportation and distribution.
  • Utilize advanced data analytics and modeling techniques to identify opportunities to improve forecast demand, optimize routing, and minimize transportation costs.
  • Able to provide clients with insights and advice on logistics benchmarks and industry best practices
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of current logistics operations to identify areas for improvement in transportation and distribution efficiency.
  • Drive root cause analysis to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in transportation and distribution processes.
  • Develop actionable recommendations for process improvements, technology enhancements, and organizational changes.
  • Lead the implementation of recommended solutions, monitoring performance metrics to ensure successful outcomes.


Operational Excellence:
  • Knowledge of the MOVE, STORE, MOVE segments of the supply chain, solid understanding of the integration between transportation and storage solutions.
  • Action standardized operating procedures (SOPs) to optimize material flow from production facilities to distribution centers and end customers.
  • Work with warehouse and inventory management teams to streamline receiving, storage, and order fulfillment processes.
  • Provide guidance on the implementation of inventory optimization strategies to minimize carrying costs while maintaining service levels and order accuracy.
  • Assess and optimize distribution center and warehouse operations to improve storage and fulfillment processes.
  • Conduct facility layout and design reviews to maximize storage capacity and operational efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and robotics to improve warehouse productivity and reduce labor costs.
  • Implement performance measurement systems to track key warehouse KPIs such as throughput, accuracy, and on-time delivery.


Practical Implementation:
  • Apply practical experience in true supply chain environments to solve complex logistics challenges.
  • Leverage knowledge of assets required to move and store materials/goods, ensuring optimal utilization of resources.


Technology and Trends:
  • Current on transportation and fulfillment trends, leading practices, and both standard and emerging technologies.
  • Research and recommend advanced technologies to enhance logistics operations and drive business strategic objectives.


Leadership and Development:
  • Lead by example with personal courage and integrity, setting a high standard for the team.
  • Coach, mentor, and train junior consultants, fostering their development into effective supply chain practitioners.
  • Be hands-on when needed, directly engaging to support the team and clients.


Stakeholder Collaboration:
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders, including transportation providers, warehouse managers, and supply chain teams.
  • Communicate complex logistics concepts clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences


Experience:
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in logistics and supply chain management, with a strong focus on transportation and distribution.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and implementing logistics strategies across multiple transportation modes and distribution environments.
  • Experience in integrated planning and fulfillment, warehouse management, transportation management, supply planning, distribution and logistics, transport sourcing, and global trade management.


Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Logistics, or a related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred).


Skills:
  • In-depth understanding of end-to-end supply chain processes, particularly in the MOVE, STORE, MOVE segments.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Keen understanding of assets required for transportation and storage of materials/goods.
  • Awareness of current transportation and fulfillment trends, leading practices, and emerging technologies.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple teams, with different priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and train junior team members.


Preferred Experience:
  • Familiarity with recognized strategy frameworks and techniques.
  • Experience with digital supply chain and fulfillment technologies, including but not limited to SAP, S4/IBP, SAP Ariba, Coupa, Kinaxis, Oracle, Blue Yonder, and other emerging transportation and warehouse management systems.
  • Proven effectiveness in collaboration with both domestic and international groups to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Experience leading diverse teams in complex strategy & consulting engagements.
  • Strong program management experience.


Set Yourself Apart:
  • Supply chain technology and digital disruptor awareness.
  • Experience with PC Millier, Project 44, Breakthrough Fuel, etc.
  • Experience in strategic cost reduction, responsible supply chain, sustainability in transportation
  • Industry experience in logistics, transportation management, warehouse management, carrier brokerage, import/export operations


Compensation at Accenture varies depending on a wide array of factors, which may include but are not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by local law, Accenture provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in California, Colorado, New York or Washington as set forth below.
