Role Title: Tax Director

Location: Needham, MA

Job Advert Description
The Tax Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of tax planning, compliance, and reporting for the Americas region. This role works closely with senior management to develop and implement tax strategies that minimize the business' tax liablities while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The Tax Director stays up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations and manages the tax position and transfer pricing for the region. They also collaborate with external tax advisors and auditors to ensure accurate and timely tax filings and financial reporting.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Manage Federal, State, Local, Sales & Use and Personal property tax for Clarks Americas to deliver timely and accurate filing of all necessary returns and payments to avoid penalties.
  • Research complex Federal, State, Sales and Use and International tax issues to ensure compliance.
  • Liaison with business leaders to identify address tax impacts of business decisions.
  • Manage tax audits as required, supported by advisors where appropriate.
  • Maintain federal, state and foreign income tax accounts to ensure the accounts are properly reflected in IFRS financial statements. Produce annual and interim financial reports to satisfy statutory requirements and internal analytical requirements
  • Create and maintain transfer pricing policies for Americas region ensuring alignment with Group transfer pricing policies. Report, monitor and document as required to ensure the accounting of intra-company transactions are in accordance with agreed TP policies.
  • Understand and address tax legislation changes to ensure continued tax compliance and identify minimization opportunities.
  • Recommend and implement changes to tax systems, formal procedures, processes, and administration of tax services to drive improvement to current and future ways of working in line with agreed outcomes
  • Lead US tax team, supporting the team to become motivated and engaged team that deliver against objective.

What You'll Bring With You:
  • 10+ years of experience, CPA/JD preferred.
  • Tax qualification and strong experience in a corporate organization.
  • Expert knowledge within tax field and ability to influence stakeholders across the Americas Region.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and direction.
  • Broad knowledge of all tax regulations within jurisdiction.
  • Good understanding of the business operations and processes to ensure tax opportunities are maximized and tax costs minimized.
  • Good understanding and interpretation of Tax Law.
  • Vertex and SAP business system knowledge. Excellent report writing, correspondence and negotiation skills.
  • Experience with direct dealing and negotiation with tax authorities.
  • Experience of working on multiple projects and to deadlines. .
  • Good influencing and relationship building skills.
