OVERVIEW

Edison Partners is seeking a dynamic Research Operations professional to join our Investment Development team. In this pivotal role, you will lead research and data-driven initiatives to support the firm's sourcing strategies, manage the CRM system to ensure effective tracking and data accuracy, and leverage insights to enhance decision-making processes. Additionally, you will continuously monitor and evaluate emerging technology solutions, particularly in AI, to identify tools that can optimize investment development operations. Your efforts will be essential in driving the firm's continued success in growth equity. This position is based in the firm's Nashville office.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Research and Analysis
  • Investment Candidate Identification: Research, identify, and evaluate private companies with strong investment potential, assessing their alignment with the firm's criteria, and ensuring they are added to the investment pipeline.
  • Market and Investment Theme Analysis: Lead the research of emerging investment themes and market trends to provide strategic insights that help support the firm's investment approach.
  • Data-Driven Insights: Leverage data analytics to derive actionable insights that support Investment Development strategies and decisions. Create and maintain detailed market maps and custom analyses.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with investment, portfolio management, and marketing teams to integrate research findings and support strategic objectives.
  • Research Project Leadership: Spearhead research initiatives, ensuring the accuracy, relevance, and applicability of findings to drive decision-making.
  • Due Diligence Support: Contribute to due diligence processes by providing thorough market research and competitive analysis.
  • Pipeline Management: Maintain and expand the investment candidate pipeline by identifying, researching, and adding private companies with strong investment potential to the top of the funnel.

CRM and Pipeline Management
  • CRM Oversight: Manage the CRM system to effectively track and document interactions with potential and current investment candidates, service providers, and other key stakeholders.
  • Data Integrity: Ensure accurate and up-to-date information in the CRM system to support effective tracking, follow-up, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Technology Monitoring: Continuously monitor and evaluate emerging technology vendor solutions, particularly in AI, to identify tools that could enhance investment development operations. Regularly report on relevant advancements and their potential impact.

Communication and Reporting
  • Performance Reporting: Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) associated with Investment Development activities, delivering comprehensive and timely updates to senior leadership.
  • Presentation Development: Create and deliver impactful presentations and executive summaries tailored for both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clarity and engagement.
  • Thought Leadership: Represent Edison at firm-hosted events, showcasing Edison's research capabilities and thought leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ideal candidates will have at least 3 years of experience in research and operations in the financial services industry, demonstrating a strong work ethic, intellectual curiosity, and problem-solving abilities. We seek someone with a growing expertise in AI, or at least an AI optimist, who is adept with data, reporting design, and data structures. You should be someone who has:
  • Research Experience: Demonstrated experience in conducting and leading research initiatives
  • CRM Experience: Proven experience with CRM and/or database systems, including reporting and analysis; experience with Salesforce is a plus.
  • Data Proficiency: Strong capability in data and reporting design, including familiarity with data structures and analytics.
