Security Engineer to support the U.S. Census Bureau customer on a highly visible cloud modernization contract. The Civil IT Leidos team will own the Cyber scope on this contract and will ultimately be responsible for the securing of applications and infrastructure in a hybrid (cloud and on-premise) environment, and mitigating cybersecurity risks. This position will be based in
Suitland, MD but will have the benefit of a hybrid work arrangement with some remote work.

What You'll Be Doing:The Security Engineer is responsible for developing and executing a methodology for addressing and mitigating security risks, delivering cybersecurity solutions.
- Review and ensure compliance with customer security policies and requirements.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and scans on Census infrastructure to identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities, with the goal of mitigating findings prior to them becoming a Plan of Action & Milestone (POA&M).
- Remediation and mitigation of identified vulnerabilities by developing POA&Ms.
- Analyze and mitigate network-related risks.
- Manage, monitor, and review security logs and taking required actions.
- Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Provide technical guidance and recommendations for securing systems and networks.
- Implement securing and hardening recommendations.
- Work with systems administrators and application support staff to schedule and apply technical remediations in the form of configuration changes and patches as appropriate.
- Support full system engineering life-cycle, including requirements analysis, design, development, test, implementation, deployment, maintenance, integration, and documentation of security infrastructure including tool suite.
- Manage system security from the Operating System (OS) level to the application level.
Basic Qualifications:- Bachelor's Degree with 4+ years of prior relevant experience.
- The ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
- Experience with network security protocols and technologies.
- Hands on experience working in a cloud environment.
- Cloud application security experience.
- Identity Access Management.
- Knowledge of security frameworks.
- Knowledge of network environments and related technologies.
- Understanding of IT security principals, technologies, best practices to include logical access control, PKI and other encryption methods, network-based and host-based IDS/IPS, security configuration baselines, auditing, vulnerability discovery, and management.
- Experience with scanning and elevation tools (Nessus, Retina, Wireshark, NMAP, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience documenting systems' adherence to NIST Special Publication 800-53, Security and Privacy Controls for Information Systems and Organizations.
- Information Assurance Certifications (i.e., CISSP, CISA, GIAC, Security +, Certified Ethnical Hacker, etc.)
- CISCO CCNA, CCNP or CCIE certified.

Pay Range: Pay Range $81,250.00 - $146,875.00
