Job Summary:

Reporting into the Director, Employee & Labor Relations, the Sr HR Generalist will oversee and perform HR related duties at the professional level. This role will perform responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: policy compliance, employee relations, labor relations, benefits administration, and training. The Sr HR Generalist is the liaison between the employees and management for multiple topics listed above.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Establish strategic initiatives and operational goals that promote positive employee relations, employee satisfaction, retention, and career growth;
  • Research, make recommendations and partner with management on the development and Fund wide communication of Human Resources policies, procedures and regulatory laws that promote a healthy work environment;
  • Lead the Funds' benefits administration, including leave management, and oversee the internal procedures across all employee benefits;
  • Provide advice and counsel to managers regarding all Funds policies and procedures to set employee behavior and expectations;
  • Identify and communicate with management opportunities for staff development and individual performance improvements;
  • Active involvement in support of contract negotiations by conducting research, compiling data, preparing documents and participating in labor negotiations;
  • Develop and sustain a positive working relationship with shop stewards, union officials and union staff and adhere to terms of labor contracts;
  • Active support of all employee relations issues related to complaints, harassment allegations and union grievances including any external regulatory agencies by scheduling meetings between management, union representatives, and staff; participating in investigation and grievance proceedings; documenting all related activities; and representing management in all related issues;
  • Draft, review, edit, and finalize performance memos, performance improvement plans (PIPs), grievance outcome summaries and other related employee and labor relations documents;
  • Manage and track all employee and labor relations data; conducts quantitative and qualitative analysis and maintains an employee and labor relations dashboard for management;
  • Conduct exit interviews, collects and analyzes data and makes recommendations to management;
  • Support the new hire and onboarding process including orientation;
  • Support Fund wide project management initiatives; and
  • Perform any other relevant assignments as directed.


Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or related field, Labor Relations a plus;
  • PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification a plus;
  • 7+ Years in Human Resources as a generalist with policy administration, benefits and leave management and employee relations experience; union experience a plus;
  • Knowledge of employment law and other compliance regulations;
  • Advanced Excel and analytical skills preferred i.e. large data sets, pivot tables and reporting, v-lookups and advanced formulas;
  • Strong communication, verbal and written;
  • Strong interpersonally and proven ability to coach at all levels;
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, and ability to prioritize competing priorities;
  • Outstanding work ethic and employment record (including attendance and punctuality);
  • Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft 365; and
  • Project management and data analysis a plus.
