Endo Tech PRN at Trinity Health in Nampa, Idaho, United States Job Description Employment Type: Part time Shift: Rotating Shift Description: GENERAL SUMMARY AND PURPOSE: Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, provides set-up, preparation, and assistance of endoscopic procedures for physicians and endoscopic surgical staff. Provides support and communicates directly with endoscopy surgical teams and supervisory staff. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent required. Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Certified Surgical Technician (CST), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Tech (EMT), Medical Assistant (MA) training or equivalent medical training preferred. Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire in all units, unless currently certified in ACLS and/or PALS. Procedure assistance experience in an Endoscopy unit preferred. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to competently care for all assigned age groups (Neonate, Child, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric as applicable). Revenue Management: ensures the accuracy of documenting services and supplies provided to the patients. Complies with hospital safety policies and procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of cautery safety (grounding pad and cautery use during procedure). Recognizes breaks in aseptic technique and takes immediate corrective action. Demonstrates understanding of all roles in the endoscopic procedural team. Performs equipment checks to ensure proper functioning. Updates and reviews physician preference cards. Anticipates and prioritizes physician needs. Communicates with RN to obtain needed resources. Responsible for technical equipment and supplies (inventory, usage, organization, and maintenance in own specialty area). Troubleshoots equipment within own specialty to bring to resolution. Assists and/or follows direction of the RN to set up a room and obtain equipment. Assists the physician and RN during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Responds to emergency situations as directed by the RN or physician. Responsible for collecting data to monitor quality as directed by the department manager. Advanced classes in medical terminology and anatomy. Assists in providing 24-hour coverage for the Endoscopy department.
