The types of procedures performed in our health system include cardiology, orthopedics, dental, endocrine, ear, nose and throat, general surgery, robotics, gynecology, labor and delivery, neurology urology, and bariatrics. As a team, they process between 2500 and 15,000 instruments per day. Their processing technicians demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, autonomy, critical thinking skills and recognize the importance of their role as a key component to our health systems commitment to our patients and the need for quality work.

Job responsibilities of the
Sterile Processing Technician include, but are not limited to, the following:
- The SPD Technician is responsible for maintaining high standards for decontamination, assembly, inspection, and preparing the surgical instruments/equipment for sterilization.
- The SPD Technician maintains consistency and continuous workflow between the OR, Central Processing and the facility as a whole while practicing above average customer service.
- Performs duties as a SPD Technician independently, works proficiently without supervision and is qualified to train new employees.
- Works in conjunction with the Pharmacy to re-supply crash carts with IV fluids and medications.
- Serves as a resource to all CSSPD customers.
- Also responsible for cleaning, issuing patient care equipment and supplies.
