Weekend rotations will follow a modified block schedule based on availability, with shifts every other weekend or every third weekendWork Environment: Our ICU Department is a 22 bed unit that provides the highest level of care to a wide variety of patients with the best nurse/patient ratios. Staffing decisions are made with the inclusion of the frontline team on safe and appropriate care. The highest acuity patients will receive 1:1 nurse/patient ratios and moderate acuity is a 1:2 nurse/patient ratio. There is a high level of patients with a multitude of diagnosis from respiratory and cardiac conditions to multi organ system failure and post op-surgical recoveries. Bellin Health is currently seeking as essential member of our nursing team, the Nursing Assistant role. As a Nursing Assistant, you will play an important role in providing patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. You will ensure patients have a successful and easy journey through their visit. You will be responsible for instilling a positive experience from the very beginning by greeting patients, collecting and verifying patient details and basic health screening questions. In addition, you will be accountable to obtain vital signs, perform diagnostic testing, phlebotomy and EKGs as needed and collect any necessary specimens. This work is mainly done with face-to-face interaction; however, some phone work is included. Lastly, you will provide any additional support services necessary to the nursing department.On a given day as a Nursing Assistant, you will play a multi-faceted role to ensure service excellence is provided to our patients. You will spend time:Providing patient care, obtaining vital signs, collecting patient data and documentsReinforcing basic patient/family teachingTransporting patients/equipment and runs various errands for nursing teamCollecting specimens, performing diagnostic testing, and conducting EKGs and phlebotomyAssisting with the organization of patient rooms including emptying of garbage baskets and delivering and retrieving traysAnswering call lights and performing refrigerator checksPleasantly greeting and assisting visitors, providers, and others as neededIdentifying business improvement projects that are aimed for cutting costs, improving productivity, and servicing our patients.Functioning with the sense of urgency and organizational skills to ensure a successful and positive encounter with our patients.What do we expect of you?
