Elevator Operator III

Your role:
As an Elevator Operator you will be responsible for performing a variety of functions including, but not limited to, running the Elevator, unloading railcars, driving the locomotive, confined space entries for bin cleaning, preventative maintenance, and sanitation. This position may be required to assist the other operators on other department as issues arise.

Your responsibilities: - Must have the ability to perform ALL associated job functions in a safe manner, following all safety procedures, taking all precautions and using all required safety equipment / PPE's.
- Must follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's).
- Must be familiar with and capable of operating all equipment in the Elevator efficiently (i.e. Locomotive, rail car gate opener).
- Must be able to work required hours including overtime on any shift, seven days a week if necessary, including Holidays.
- May be required to change shifts to provide coverage for Employee Vacations and Illness.
- Must unload set number of rail car's daily to avoid any demurrage charges.
- Must maintain high levels of safety and sanitation performance which includes Safety Audits, 5S audits and others as required.
- Must become a qualified Elevator Operator, Rail Unload Operator, Switch Engine Operator and Brakeman to be able to provide the coverage necessary for the position.
- Any other duties as assigned by the Elevator Manager (i.e.. safety inspections, fire extinguisher checks, 5s, etc.).
Essential skills and experience: - Strong reading comprehension, writing, math and communication skills.

- Ability to meet strict deadlines and schedules.
- Ability to organize own work to maximize unloading time and number of rail cars unloaded during shift.
- Ability to wear required PPE.
- Communication skills in English (both verbal and written).
- Strong computer skills (for data entry and process control).
Good to have: - Manufacturing experience in food facility.
- Familiarity with GMP's and HACCP.
- Experience with locomotive operations and railcar movement.
- Previous confined space training.
Physical requirements and working conditions (with or without reasonable accommodation): - Ability to climb stairs and straight ladders several times a day.
- Ability to climb on & over rail cars.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Overall Working Conditions:
- Both inside and outside working conditions.
- Extreme heat - Temperatures above 85 degrees for periods of more than 1 hour.
- Noise - Sufficient to cause the worker to shout to be heard above surrounding noise level.
- The worker is required to wear a respirator when working in an area with airborne wheat dust
Team members must be clean shaven in order to perform tasks where respiratory protection is required and the use of a respirator (including N-95 dust mask) requires a proper seal for adequate protection.
