JOB SUMMARY:
Competent Clinician, knowledgeable and skilled in specialty area. Contributing member of
the interdisciplinary team. Practice is characterized by predominantly interdependent
decision-making. Practice is problem focused, but patient centered in the manner care is
provided. Able to manage unexpected or emergency situations that are commonly seen in
assigned specialty population. Serves as a resource for licensed and unlicensed clinic staff.
Can manage commonly seen contingency situations that arise on his/her clinical unit.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES / CRITICAL TASKS:
* Adheres to the Mission, Vision, and Values of UT Health East Texas.
* Performs technical procedures/skills in the specialty area of oncology which
includes the administration of medications and treatments specific to cancer care
primarily.
* Flexibility and willingness to cover in other clinics as needed.
* Accountable for the identification and reduction of unsafe practices that could
cause harm to patients.
* Responsible for acquiring working knowledge of and maintaining ongoing
understanding of required practices, procedures and processes to meet and
exceed regulatory compliance standards.
* Other duties as assigned.
ACCOMPANYING KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES:
* Bilingual a plus.
* EMR experience.
* Ability to operate standard office equipment and medical equipment such as I.V.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
* Graduation from an accredited Registered Nurse program.
* RN with clinical experience in area of Oncology preferred.
* RN with experience in clinic setting preferred.
* Must possess and maintain a current RN license to practice in Texas.
* Must possess and maintain current CPR Healthcare Provider.
* OCN certification and Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy certificate of added
qualification preferred at hire. Mandatory within 12 months of eligibility.
