Job Description

  • Provide electrical leadership as Paper Machine specialist for drives on new paper machines and refurbished machines
  • Size power distribution equipment and produce single line for PM Drives
  • Determine and size cables for PM Drives
  • Size Cable bus and design
  • Applications of PM Drives and motors
  • Understand Terminology used with PM Drives and motors
  • Power Demand Calculations
  • Parameters required to calculate Drive HP requirements
  • Drive configurations
  • Applications of AC Drives – Motors and VFD’s selection
  • DC Drive technology
  • Write specifications, do bid analysis and provide recommendations
  • Review drawings and make comments to drawings from PM Drives manufacturers
  • Knowledge of various PM Drives manufacturers
  • Travel to site(s) to review and evaluate existing installations
  • Knowledge of Paper Machine & Winder operations.
  • Possess very good knowledge and develop single line diagrams, grounding plans and details, cable schedules (cable, conductor sizing), control panel layouts, motor power and control schematics and field wiring, termination list, interconnection wiring diagrams,
  • Approve and stamp electrical drawings under the candidate’s supervision and/or supervision
  • Perform electrical calculations
  • Develop physical layout drawings of electrical rooms, transformer rooms.
  • Coordinate design with other engineering disciplines ( Process, Civil, Mechanical, Instrumentation ) for successful project completions
  • Execute technical project work within your area of expertise. Majority of time will be used for concept and detailed engineering design.

Qualifications

  • Outils Microsoft Office.

  • 15 or more years professional experience with Paper Machine Drives and Variable Frequency Drives
  • Perform conceptual and detailed design of electrical power and control systems (medium and low voltages)
  • Member in good standing with the, “Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec”. Membership with other professional engineering associations would be an asset.
  • Travel to client job sites to gather information and participating in design review meetings.
  • Experience working at job sites to supervise the electrical installations of Paper Machine Drives and Variable Frequency Drives.
  • Participate in electrical check-outs and start-ups.
  • Microsoft Office Tools.
  • Solid understanding of industrial electrical distribution equipment and materials.
  • Apply industry codes and standards such as Canadian Electrical, National Electrical Code and AFRY standards.
  • Team-oriented, detailed oriented and a creative thinker.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
  • French and English (speaking and writing).
